Private vlog sounds definitely like a great idea and would be worth exploring. I immediately thought of Fanny Price or Anne Elliot as suitable ladies for this type of adaptation. Perhaps somebody is doing something similar, either an adaptation or with original characters, but I wouldn't know. As far as web series go, I'm still a very green viewer. :-) Though there would be little justification for elaborate editing. Also the trend - at least with three vlogs I follow - aims for direct interaction or even audience participation. It feels great to be a part of the story, though there are some problems. Epecially if they focus too much on the fluff and forget the skeleton of the story (-cough-"Welcome to Sanditon"-cough-). With private vlogs, it would be all out-of-universe and the transmedia aspect would be lost or downplayed, which might not be an entirely bad thing.
I also agree that knowing you are being filmed changes your behaviour significantly. People self-censor themselves all the time, and more among strangers or when it's being recorded for posterity. Characters and the story would definitely be influenced by it. However, it could be happening at social gatherings like parties, and I could imagine that characters would loosen a bit once they forgot about it and stopped focusing on it.
Also, Ramya, I forgot to mention, my initial reaction to your "Moar Rochester!" in your first post was "word", and that it should be made into a giff. And best sent to the crew. :-D
