I also thought Carlisle could have easily been behind Vera's death. He was still engaged to Mary at the time and Vera still posed a threat with the information regarding Pamuk.

Frankly, I was hoping for a story line that had Carlisle arrested for the murder of Vera and Matthew helping with his defense . . . but, alas that won't happen now.
