I'm sure this isn't really the case, but if Lord Grantham were to pass away suddenly wouldn't it be great if Branson, as the agent for the estate, became the overseer until Mary's young boy reached the age of majority? And of course, there would have to be a moment, as Robert lay on the edge of death, that he realized control of the estate was going to pass to the chauffer...
