Heavy-handed telegraphing   Written by Dina C. (2/11/2013 5:29 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Last night's episode, penned by Carol J [Back to Board]
Are you new?

Yes, I think JF is guilty of some very clumsy telegraphing to the audience that things are so idyllic that you just know that something bad is about to happen. The whole cricket scene -- quintessentially British -- then the ending slow-motion shot of Lord Grantham, Matthew and Tom was beautiful. He did the same heavy-handed kind of thing when Sybil died. I wish he could trust that we were smart enough to follow the story without all the blatant semaphoring of "danger ahead!"
