Is anyone else watching this show? Wednesday nights at 10:00 on FX.
Two episodes have aired so far and it has jumped to #1 on my most-anticipated-show-of-the-week-list. Keri Russel and Matthew Rhys play Soviet sleeper agents circa 1982.
The spy stuff is gripping (although violent), but what really makes the show interesting is the relationship between the 2 main characters. For their undercover identities the KGB required them to get married and they have 2 children. Although the marriage started out as "pretend", the love they have for their children is real; and like many arranged marriages, over time the couple have developed a strong bond.
We've joined the couple at a crisis point -- the election of Ronald Reagan has made the Soviets nervous, and the agents are asked to take on more active and dangerous assignments. As a result, their loyalty to their country, their kids and each other comes into question.
I think anyone who enjoys Homeland will enjoy this show. I for one can't wait to see how these interesting characters develop.
