What a great character! (spoilers)   Written by Angela H (1/29/2013 9:17 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Episode 4., penned by Ann Rose [Back to Board]
Are you new?

The internet is alive with grief and fury over Sybil's death. Everyone is upset that she is gone. It just shows what a great character she is/was that everyone (onscreen and in the TV audience) is so upset. Everyone liked her because she was so nice, but she wasn't sickly sweet. She had real strength of character and we all loved her for it, just as everyone at Downton Abbey did.

Gosh, the scene downstairs when everyone has been awakened by Carson to be told that Sybil is dead...just one of several moments that give me chills. The shock and quiet tears, Thomas's reaction. And Cora, I agree, was heartwrenching.

The most amazing moment to me was the dowager countess's. She enters the house and talks briefly with Carson. The shots after she says to him that "nothing could be worse than this" is kind of indescribable. I had already been crying, but that one really did me in. It makes me teary-eyed just thinking about it.
