I remember there was a huge build up to The Age of Innocence because it was Scorcese stepping out of his genre of mob movies and the hype was about the attention to detail. He did get all that right, but the critics panned the movie. The first time I saw it, I agreed with them. The story didn't seem to move. But the movie has grown on me and I don't mind watching it every once in a while.

The main characters in the movie were fictional but the lesser characters were names from NY society. You can still find those names on libraries, museums, streets and real estate developments. I suspect Fellowes will take some of their stories and include it into the plotlines. I think there is lots of potential to make it interesting.
