I went to see the new James Bond film, Skyfall, yesterday. I was really impressed---it's not only a good Bond film; it's also a good film, full stop. I know it's a cliche to say "I laughed, I cried," but I did do both. And even though it clocks in well over two hours, it didn't feel that long to me. I left feeling like I could watch it all over again from the beginning.
Also, Javier Bardem is one of the best Bond villains I've seen in I can't remember when, in the great old tradition of larger-than-life Bond villains like Goldfinger. He's having way too much of a good time being bad and even though he has several very funny moments, he's also spine-crawling creepy. Fun to watch in a film, but in real life I wouldn't want to be on the same land mass with anyone like that! =8-O
The usual cautions for violence and a high body count apply, but they didn't feel gratuitous; it all had a great deal to do with the plot. Nevertheless, if that sort of thing distresses you, be warned.
