] When you´ve experienced something like that, it´s not easy to believe your own senses any more. But on the other hand believing it possible for other people to act in the same way.

I see what you mean, but for all practical purposes, Mrs. Palmer would not have had the option of leaving her husband, so under the circumstances I think she made the wisest "decision", even if it was rather delusional! ;-)
