] I realize that. Let me just state here and now for the record, I have no romantic feelings for these people, and am not looking for any!

I assure you, I understood what you meant! :-) I was talking about teenage girls *generally* (then and now)! As I said in another post, there are lots of things I can accept about JA's time (at least while I am reading one of her novels!), but for some reason, teenage girls (or even very sheltered girls in their early twenties) marrying men twice their age is not one of them!
