GR: Marianne as co-heroine   Written by Delories (9/17/2003 5:56 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Marianne's monologue, penned by joe m
Are you new?

Thanks for that insightful post. It got me to thinking how in S&S, unlike (I think) any other novels in the JA canon, we have "co-heroines" -- one of whom discovers some "sensibility" in herself through falling in love, the other discovering more "sense" through (partly self-inflicted) suffering and subsequent reflection on it -- rather than a single heroine, as in the other novels.

I'm taking this over to Austenuations, if anyone is interested.
