GR: Well maybe...   Written by Mandy N (9/12/2003 11:17 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Marianne and Ophelia, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

] This topic has popped up on this board from time to time, and I think over at the Library when we were doing a GR of Hamlet.

] When Willoughby left the Dashwoods in Barton, he had been reading Hamlet to them and left it unfinished.

] There are a number of parallels that can be drawn between certain characters and situations in the play and in S&S. end.

] Can anyone think of some other parallels in the stories? Well, Willoughby and Hamlet both began to treat their lady loves with unkindness yet each felt regret. (Gosh! Willoughby has just burst upon Cleveland. He must know Marianne is there). Also, Marianne liked poetry and as Ophelia drowned, didn't she chant tunes?
