GR: It's simple   Written by Line (9/10/2003 6:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Why is John D such a toady?, penned by Kristen G.

] This has really been bothering me. Why is John such a toady, even towards his own wife? What does he gain by trying to get in good with rich people (Mrs. Jennings included!)?
