GR: And I thought   Written by joe m (9/3/2003 11:39 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Oh, dear. That´s a bit harsh, penned by Ingrid Linnéa
Are you new?

Your subject line was referring to this: "my dislike for Marianne equalled my dislike of Fanny" (-;

] IMO Marianne has received a formidable blow. She is young, it´s her first love...

True, but she has been so self absorbed and trampling so hard on everyones feelings by this point, that I find it impossible to give her the benefit of the doubt.

] And as you question Marianne´s abilities: IMHO it´s quite possible to be clever, but not wise. They are not the same thing. ;-)

True, but a clever person is capable of analyzing things and seeing meanings that others don't see. Once the evidence was there that Willoughby was not the man he presented himself to be, she would have figured it out if she were truly clever. She has still yet to prove the narrator's description as true with either her actions or words.
