no, seriously, I think that this was a point of honour, which from Col B's view, at least, had to be done. I can't imagine either of them wishing to make further scandal by it getting abroad, so I think they might have missed on purpose.

I am put in mind of a episode of Sharpe where a pompous senior officer gets shot in the backside in a duel, but suspect this could only have happened in JA's Juvenellia!!!
