GR: Exeter   Written by Silke (9/1/2003 4:17 a.m.)
Are you new?

Please bear with me, I'm terribly behind, but here goes:

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but has anyone else wondered about the way the Steele sisters were introduced in the book?

How did Mrs Jennings "meet" them in Exeter and "discover" them to be relations of hers? I'm puzzled how this exactly happened. Then she invites them over although neither Sir John nor Lady Middleton have ever seen them before. What did the sisters do in Exeter and how could they call that off immediately?

At least now we know why Edward at the time was so eager to know where exactly in Devonshire the Dashwoods were going :-)
