GR: Lucy not evil   Written by Lucy K (8/30/2003 4:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Feeling sorry for Lucy, penned by B. Michelle
Are you new?

] However, now that I am doing this re-read, I'm quickly realizing how evil lucy really is. She has no consideration for anyone and uses everyone she knows to meet her ends.

I have no great regard for the character of Lucy Steele. But I don't think she is "evil" really. I think she's just trying to survive. She has no money, no real family to speak of except for a dim-witted sister and in this society, no opportunity to better herself except through a good marriage.

She isn't educated or refined but she isn't stupid either. And she has other apparent charms and abilities. She is good looking and resourceful and she has "people skills" when it serves her.

I don't feel sorry for her, however, because despite her many abilities she has thrown out all ethics and decency in the face of her ambition. She is "mercenary", in JA's terms. I wouldn't put anything past such a woman including using her feminine wiles in more "physical" ways, if you get my drift.
