] Why does it seem to people that if a young woman has a strong sense of morals, she must somehow be repressed and doomed to problems later in life?

It's not Elinor's strong sense of morals, but her repression at such a young age that's at issue: the casting of the older Emma Thompson made a lot of sense. She spends almost the entire novel repressing her feelings and thoughts. I hope she can loosen up a bit: I wonder if she will...
