...never did run smooth!

So quick bright things come to confusion.

There are so many lines and situations from this play that can apply to this story!

] ...that Willoughby is like Demetrius to Marianne's Helena: IIRC, D wooed Helena only to change his mind and want Hermia. And Marianne/Helena doesn't take this news calmly and rationally; both are willing to risk their reputation to try to get their man back.

The whole mis-matched lovers theme and people wanting the wrong person runs all through this story. Much of this could equally be applied to the Elinor/Edward/Lucy triangle as well.
