Brandon was able to see, in her time with Willoughby, a woman who loved without inhibition. Perhaps he saw her as the Brigitte Bardot of Regency England. (-; While her attentions are directed towards another man, it's not too hard to imagine still loving despite the unrequited nature. Just think of her as Hermia, and he as Demetrius.
