The youthful infatuation of nineteen would naturally blind [Edward] to everything but [Lucy's] beauty and good nature; but the four succeeding years -- years, which if rationally spent, give such improvement to the understanding, must have opened his eyes to her defects of education
Why does Elinor think Edward's "youthful infatuation of nineteen" quite understandable, while at nineteen herself she is quite grown-up and capable of making sensible decisions?
