] Usually Colonel Brandon has been referred to as just that -- Colonel Brandon. But suddenly both Elinor (in chapter 20) and Marianne (in chapter 13) refer to him as Mr . Brandon -- and just once each. Is there some significance to this change, or is it just JA's way of providing some narrative variety?

This was something I wondered about too. I recalled that we had discussed this at the Life and Times board when I asked (I was afraid that Marianne was being disrespectful except that Elinor did it too).
