Public behavior   Written by Susan (8/23/2003 8:16 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Marianne vs Elinor, penned by Annette J.
Are you new?

] For we introverts, dealing with people is an exhausting business and we like to husband our energy, just like Elinor. Extroverts such as Marianne are like the proverbial candles that "cannot last the night" -- many extroverts literally burn out in early middle age.

And they tend to burn out those around them as well! ;-)

I've also had trouble with Marianne's self absorption and self indulgent behavior. Elinor's behavior is based on a social consciousness that Marianne doesn't honor. Elinor knows there are words and emotions that shouldn't be shared in public, while Marianne chooses to flout convention, regardless of the overflow effect it has on those close to her.
