GR Perhaps   Written by Melissa (8/21/2003 8:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Chaperones, penned by Valerie Mc.

] Although it does seem a bit intimate, like the way they call him "Willoughby" even though he's not related to them or officially engaged to Marianne. Do you think perhaps Marianne and Mrs. Dashwood are rushing the relationship a bit?

They do seem to be rushing it but at the same time, she seems to have spent as much time with Willoughby as in most JA novels. Also Elinor doesn't seem to think it is too soon for them to be engaged, she just wants to know for sure.

I don't know what was a normal time to spend with someone before you became engaged.

Melissa
