GR: Brandon's sister at Avignon? (Ch.13)   Written by Anne Charlotte (8/17/2003 6:39 a.m.)
Are you new?

In Chapter 13, when Brandon gets the letter containing news that makes him go to London immediately Mrs Jennings asks if it is from his sister in Avignon. I never knew that Brandon had a sister but anyway, how could she possibly be in France? England and France were in war about 1797 when the first draft of the novel was written and about 1811 when the novel was published as well. Or is there an other Avignon elsewhere? I am baffled.

Could somebody please enlighten me?
