] And probably for romantics like Marianne, it has that airiness but also strength - just as Dashwood is a dashing name... whereas Ferrars sounds sort of ferrety... ;)

One of my thoughts was of the Dashwood women sitting around testing the name "Willoughby" in a variety of tones. It does have a certain airiness, indeed! :-D
