GR: Another question   Written by Line (8/13/2003 7:31 p.m.)
Are you new?

In chapter 7, describing Sir John's attempts to invite more guests the first time the Dashwoods come to dinner, it says:

"He had been to several families *that morning* in hopes of procuring some addition to their number, but *it was moonlight* and everybody was full of engagements."

What does "it was moonlight" mean, and what does that have to do with everybody being busy? Does anyone know?
