I forgot   Written by Lisa Dalrymple (8/13/2003 11:57 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR, no point, unless..., penned by Barbara
Are you new?

] Mrs. Dashwood, however much she might be an attractive person, would very likely be past child-bearing age in that time, so could not provide Brandon (or anyone) with a family, sons or heirs, and has nothing in the way of a financial inducement that might make a younger man interested in a slightly older widow. We know that Brandon does not need her money, but it is not unreasonable to assume that a 35 year old man would like to have his own family.

It didn't occur to me about "producing an heir", as you and Deborah both mentioned. That would do it. Although, if she's only 40-41 she could still have a few children. But I see your point, and since she's a very recent widow it's probably very inappropriate for me to even think of such a thing (call me Mrs Jennings, LOL).
