A Great Preference   Written by BarbaraB (8/10/2003 10:23 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Group read: pointers and guidelines, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

]Although this is not a strict rule as such, I prefer the discussion each week to progress through the chapters, discussing the earlier ones first if possible, then the later ones from that week's selection, rather than everything all in a jumble at once. Again, this is a guideline and a preference rather than a rule.

I for one really like this idea. It was used once before in a group read, probably an earlier S&S GR, Barbara. Even though I didn't begin reading until Thursday, I did manage to read through Chapter 12 but there have been some weeks in previous group reads when I've been a bit behind and spreading the chapters out over the week really helps in this situation. What sometimes happens is, right off the bat someone will begin discussing the end of the week's section the first day or two before some have read it and are prepared to discuss it. By the end of the week when some of us are just catching up, these topics have scrolled down and other exciting discussions are taking place and well.....in other words, at least for me, my brain cells tend to appreciate a more sequenced flowing discussion. I also find it easier to focus and organize my thoughts. So, it works for me! Thanks. :-)
