(after several years, as I think I said somewhere else before.) Oh my gosh, I'm about fried with Marianne's indulgent wailing and gloom and her rudeness to others who are kind to her! I'd forgotten that she was so rude! I keep reminding myself she's just a 'kid' really, and that she will change (the value of having read, watched the story many times!) but wow, she's getting so aggravating! It's really interesting how differently I interpret her wallowing self-immersion now (compared to 20 years ago!) I used to feel sorry for her, and now I'm about fed up with her self-indulgence and her leaving all the smoothing over to Elinor every time!! (I'm glad to read Elinor getting a bellyful now and then though and really feeling critical of Marianne at points...thank heavens Elinor isn't a martyr!) Has anyone else noticed themselves reacting to the story differently at different intervals of life? I remember being 17 and broken-hearted, but oh I hope I never relished the drama and saturated myself with it as much as Marianne does!
