S&S1 has the most accurate portrayal of Edward. He is reserved, but you do grow to like him very much. I like the Fanny in this version. She is quite pretty (which I think Fanny should be), and except for one screaming scene, very menacing (in a polite society sort of way). Marianne is alright. My favourite is still Charity W from S&S3- which btw is the series I like best!
S&S0- This version has a lovely Elinor. Hattie M remains my favourite, but Joanna David comes right after. She shows less emotion that either Hattie or Emma T- but her's is an interesting take on the character. I think she is a little more like Anne Elliot than Elinor- but it is still a portrayal I like. Marianne is terrible. Mrs Jennings is fun. Very young and exuberant.
One thing I like about both the old series- Brandon and Marianne are not engaged at the end. There is a steady friendship, and the expectation of something more- in the future. This is, IMO, the best way of showing their relationship. Every other alternative feels hurried.
