in consequence of the missive, Ferrars parents, penned by Sonja K.
Old Mr Ferrars seemed to show poor judgment in leaving his wife in control of most of his fortune (except for the small sums such as annities to former servants). He did not provide properly for his children e.g. in trust funds if they were young, but left it to his wife's sole discretion. So he had full confidence in his wife, or doted on her, or was under her thumb, pe3rhaps like John and Fanny Dashwood, or Mr and Mrs Churchill in Emma?
