the opening scene is shot in such a way that the characters and their motivations would be very ambiguous to anyone who was not familiar with the story. I do not think that it reveals Willoughby's villainy too soon.

So what is thte point of that scene? If people guess it is Willougby then it DOES give his villainy away at the very beginning.. If not, well what's the reason for it? Other than, as I suspect, to try and lure viewers in, saying in effect "JA is not just a stuffy boring prim and proper writer.. see she has sex scenes!"
