I think at the end of a pregnancy, not all movements are prohibited. I remember a mother driven in Citroen Mehari all along her pregnancy, on uneven roads; I guess it was worse than a Regency good carriage on "good roads" and she kept laughing.
And I think confinement lasted some time after birth, but I don't know how long.
