Spencer, very interesting post, especially as I live in Hertfordshire, so I have looking on the net to try and find out more. What I have found is a property developer who appears to have developed a "Netherfield House" Stansted Abbots, and here is a tantalisingly bad picture.

I shall see if I can find out anything else. It might be worth taking a drive that way and having a look. I shall report back if I find anything else out.
