didn't get to go inside...

in consequence of the missive, Did they live poorly in Bath?, penned by Caroline
...in any of the lodgings at Bath where JA stayed, unfortunately. However, each place they had to move to was less and less fashionable, and my impression was that it just got to be unmanagable to keep a place on their own, hence eventually living outside the city and visiting relatives until Chawton Cottage became available. Since Bath revolved around where you lived (what street, etc.), I can imagine the mortification (and misery) grew with each move. And it's never very fun to move so quickly from one place to another, so they probably didn't feel very settled and always worried about money! I can see how that would leave an unfavorable impression of Bath at the end. I guess Jane never visited Bath again after leaving? I don't recall. Wish you could've come to Bath with us, Caroline. I know you would've enjoyed it (but I know you enjoyed what you ended up doing, too!) :)
