Are you new?

I see a fair number of second wives, and a fair number of women dying in their 20s or 30s. How many of these were deaths in connection with childbirth?

I don't know anything about the art of midwifery in those times, but the medical science of the day, prior to antisepsis and anaesthetics, was likely to do a woman in labor more harm than good.
