| Cross Channel | Laraine: Marvelous short stories from one of Britain's best contemporary writers. The stories are about British people living in France and focus on the vexed questions of retrieving the past and finding truth in memories that are undoubtedly changed over time. | Julian Barnes | Other Fiction(Short Stories) |
| Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye, The | Kate: Several of these fairy stories are lifted from other Byatt works, but the main story, which is really a novella, is a charming and disturbing story of a woman, (whom one suspects is really AS Byatt herself,) and her encounter with a genie who promises her three wishes. Anyone who has felt the regret of aging will appreciate her choices. | A. S. Byatt | Other Fiction(Short Stories) |
| Griffin and Sabine Trilogy | This trilogy relates to a correspondence between the title characters. The format is the actual letters and postcards that are exchanged. The story is wonderful and the artwork is fascinating -- I find some new details every time I go back. | Nick Bantock | Other Fiction(Defies Description) |
| Here's Your Hat What's Your Hurry | . | Elizabeth McCracken | Other Fiction(Short Stories) |
| Homeland | . | Barbara Kingsolver | Other Fiction(Short Stories) |
| Importance of Being Earnest, The | Constanza: . | Oscar Wilde | Other Fiction(Plays) |
| Lady Windermere's Fan | Constanza: . | Oscar Wilde | Other Fiction(Plays) |
| Lady's Not for Burning, The | A gem of a play, filled with wonderful metaphor. The story involves an out-of-work soldier who gets involved with a witch hunt, which seems like a strange subject for comedy, but it works. (If you can find it, the video with Eileen Atkins and Richard Chamberlain is fabulous.) | Christopher Fry | Other Fiction(Plays) |
| Lions and Liquorice | Kate: Strictly speaking, this belongs on the sequels page, since it's a modern day spoof on P&P. It's about a television company filming a production of P&P in a Yorkshire village. The clever part of it is that the plot of the book is like a mirror of P&P. | Kate Fenton | Other Fiction(Defies Description) |
| Mammoth Book of Historical Detectives, The | "The Admiral's Lady" by Joan Aiken in this book is especially good. The story is about the death of the wife of an Admiral Crawford, and that two of the suspects are their niece and nephew, Mary and Henry Crawford. | Michael Ashley / Joan Aiken | Other Fiction(Short Stories) |
| Odd Couple, The | I have performed in this and have seen the movie a kajillion times, and the script can still crack me up. (The link is for a collection of Simon's plays.) | Neil Simon | Other Fiction(Plays) |
| Pygmalion and My Fair Lady | . | George Bernard Shaw | Other Fiction(Plays) |
| Rivals, The | One of the plays they considered doing in Mansfield Park. | Richard Sheridan | Other Fiction(Plays) |
| This Side of Married | Marlene: This Side of Married, by Rachel Pastan, is another recent P&P pastiche. Although I didn't quite enjoy it as much as Jane Austen in Boca, by Paula Marantz Cohen, it was still quite entertaining. The setting is modern-day Philadelphia, with the Rubin family standing in for the Bennets. It was a fun read. | Rachel Pastan | Other Fiction(Defies Description) |
