Yes, because of the hope   Written by Tuija (2/20/2013 10:46 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Is Persuasion your favorite? Why?, penned by Stacey GC
Are you new?

Why do I love Persuasion so much?

Hope was gone for Anne Elliot - but hope was revived.
She was mostly overlooked and undervalued - she became valued and loved.
She seemed like a withered flower - and she blossomed again.

It's a mature love story, and a story of a second chance going right. It has many wonderful moments of biting humour and irony.
And the climax for me is that the wonderful, deep, emotional conversation of Anne and Captain Harville is the key for Captain Wentworth understanding her heart, giving him the courage to take that second chance.

I think, when I first was a single woman approaching thirty, this story gave me some hope that it may be possible for someone special to see beyond the 'loss of first bloom'. (Not that I'm an Anne Elliot by any means.) More than a decade later, now I'm a wife and a mother, and it's still my favourite comfort read.
