|Is Persuasion your favorite? Why?

If you are on this board, like me, you probably just read, or re-read, Persuasion. Is it your favorite JA novel? Although I also love S&S, P&P, and Emma, Persuasion with my dear, long-suffering Anne Elliot (none so capable as Anne) is my favorite. I try to read it every year or so, usually leading up to Valentine's Day. I try to time it so I read "the letter" at a quiet, uninterrupted time so I can allow tears to flow and joy to fill my heart.
I think Persuasion is my favorite because Anne suffers so. My heart aches for her. I remember the first time I started to re-read...I couldn't stand it. I had to read the end to justify the pain in the beginning.
Further re-readings have shown the character of Anne Elliot as strong, like an acorn nut, in feeling and character. If JA wanted to give us an example we can all aspire to, than Anne Elliot is that example.
I also love that this was JA's last completed novel. She wrote it at a more mature age (40-41) and thoughtfully paints a portrait of a woman undervalued by her family, but really a treasure they overlook. Yet she (Anne) is not bitter or mean. She continues to act in everyone's best interest (her sisters, her father, Capt. Wentworth, Louisa). She could have handled her situation so differently, but she approaches life with truth, honesty and love. Thank you, JA.
I cannot rave about this novel enough.
