It was bothering me, I noticed once or twice in the book, and I didn't really understand the significance of it. Also, thanks for the term! Both times in which I noticed this were when Anne and Frederick were finishing their conversations - it would make sense that Austen wanted to distinguish Anne's narration from exactly what Wentworth had said.
