Loving JA, yet I know that she downplays the angst and tangled complications. Most of us are inclined toward Frederick not Benwick, so how Louisa could trade one for the other seems unfathomable. All I can say is JA is a definite feel-good author, with trust in the probity and good sense of her characters once they're off her page. I think Anushka's question is valid, but in the Austen world this would not be an issue.
