GR: Distracted Henry

in consequence of the missive, GR: My favourite lines, penned by Siobhan
I love this, for it so clearly shows the state of Henry's mind. He's just proposed to and been accepted by Catherine and they have to interrupt this happy moment with a visit to Mrs. Allen, of all people! And our witty, teasing, smart as a whip, never without an ironic observation Henry is so distracted he is at a loss for words. One of the few times in his life, I'd be willing to bet. Makes me want to squoosh his cheeks and go "awwww, poor poopy" :-} ahem.... One of my favorites is the last line: "I leave it to be settled, by whomsoever it may concern, whether the tendency of this work be altogether to recommend parental tyranny, or reward filial disobedience. " Fabulous. |
