GR: Oh no! She's taken me seriously!...   Written by Tanya Virginia (4/23/2003 9:53 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, New challenge, or less dangerous game?, penned by Captain Everett
Are you new?

] ] She felt assured of the Captains affections so she decided to write him; the "challenge" thus being over for Tilney, he moved on to Charlotte Davis.

] That might be. OTOH, it might be that after she wrote him, Frederick realized she was a lot more serious than he was, and it scared him off. (snip) If he had continued the relationship he might find himself forced to marry IT, rather than just have a bit of fun.

...Run, run like the wind, Captain! Good point; I never thought of it that way. And, maybe, he lavished his attentions on Charlotte to drive the point home--Isabella and witnesses take note there is no connection here! Because, knowing Isabella, despite being previously engaged to James, she might sue Frederick for breach of promise.
