in consequence of the missive, GR: Group Reads, penned by Cheryl
This is my second read of NA and my first Group Read :). I've been reading all the posts since the beginning of the Group Read but haven't posted until recently. I didn't want to say something stupid with all these well-read people around! But I love hearing people's interpretation of difficult passages. I'm still vague on the subtext of "learning to love a Hyacinth", but at least I can go back and reread that post until it's clearer! Or go to Life and Times for further explanation on the meaning of a flower. I love finding out what breeches-ball, coquelicot, Rumford, snuffing, etc... meant. What's fun is everytime I re-read JA I get a new meaning and a new understanding. Also, above, someone noticed that Isabella's always calling Captain Tilney by his surname (Tilney says this..Tilney says that...) I didn't see the "forest for the trees" on that one as I was so wrapped up in the action of the scene. That's what I like about a group read; If I don't catch it someone else will. I like hearing different points of view and theories on the reason behind the characters' actions that I'd never imagine on my own. Thank you everyone, especially Cheryl, for all their insights. I had so much fun :). Tanya Virgina
