] The General would have to be at least in his late 40s to have sons the ages of Henry and Frederick. Colonel Brandon is 35--hardly old enough to have a 25 year old son and another older than that!

A match between people with such an age spread (between Gen. T. and Catherine) might not have been *completely* unheard-of back then, do you think? If Brandon was considered an excellent match for Marianne, then Tilney at 10-12 years older might not have raised all that many eyebrows.

But I digress. Your main comment still stands: EWWWWW!! ;-)
