Frederick and the Army   Written by Captain Everett (4/21/2003 6:16 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR - Pure conjecture, penned by Siobhan
Are you new?

I disagree with the idea that Frederick chose the military against his father's wishes. It is unusual for the first son to choose the military for a career. But, given that his father is a General, I'm more inclined to believe that a stint in the army may be a family tradition, and the father insisted his son follow that course.

OTOH, I'm not surprised that Frederick chose a regiment that was posted to Irleand, rather than one closer to home.

I remain,
Jason E.
