This is the one place in the book where I haven't approved of Henry's conduct: I've always thought he was unreasonably harsh on Catherine.

However rethinking it in light of your comments, perhaps it was what she needed to make her grow up.

I wonder to what extent the fact that his mother was the subject influenced Henry's anger. Perhaps if Catherine's wild imaginings had taken another direction he would have merely been amused.
