Yes, I quite like him too   Written by Rae (4/17/2003 5:59 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Captain Frederick Tilney (v. long, I'm afraid), penned by Siobhan
Are you new?

] At the moment, I quite like Captain Tilney. I think he is perhaps less patient with his father (hence the rising late, the sullen silence and the whispering comment), but so far see nothing to censure in him other than a tendency to play with IT. Perhaps he shouldn't do that, but really, I'm quite sure she started it and I really can't feel sorry for her. We don't hear tales of him flirting with every woman in that way. Perhaps he limits himself to being entertained by stupid, greedy women!! ;-)

and not just because of his title and first name!!! I like all three Tilneys excessively and agree with you about their father's impact on them and their closeness as siblings.

In Catherine and Henry's discussion, what comes over to me is that Henry understands his brother and takes a fairly worldly attitude towards his behaviour with IT. Not exacty cynical, but he certainly has to find a way to present it to Catherine that does not unnecessarily challenge her rather naive view of the world, while also not committing him to doing anything about it.
