GR: boasting   Written by Tara O'Donnell (4/15/2003 9:59 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Indirect boast, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

] This is a great example of what Darcy calls the "indirect boast" isn't it? Remember how he says of Bingley's denigration of his handwriting that it is "The indirect boast; -- for you are really proud of your defects in writing, because you consider them as proceeding from a rapidity of thought and carelessness of execution, which if not estimable, you think at least highly interesting."

I never thought of that but it's true! Interesting now that I think about it,General Tilney and John Thorpe have something in common-they both love to brag about their possessions and downgrade other people's.
